How Do I Know if My Baby's Teeth Are Brushed Clean?

Baby’s teeth are brushed every day, but some parents are concerned about how to know if they have thoroughly cleaned their baby’s teeth. Here, we will discuss three ways to ensure your baby has good oral health:

1. Through Visual Inspection

You can tell if your baby’s teeth are clean using visual inspection. Clean teeth are crystal clear, and the gap between the teeth will be clearly visible.

2. The Plaque Staining Method

This is the most effective and realistic way to check whether the teeth are clean. The plaque staining swab is broken from the red line, and the plaque staining liquid flows into the lower end of the swab. After evenly coating each tooth surface and leaving it for one minute, rinse your mouth. The red stains on the tooth surface that have not been rinsed off are the remaining plaque, whereas the clean tooth surface is white.

The following picture shows the effect of brushing after a baby brushes his own teeth. Here, you can see that only the individual incisors are clean, and the rest of the teeth are covered by plaque. This means that the baby cannot effectively remove the plaque by brushing his own teeth and must rely on parental help.

3. Flossing

Even after effective brushing, the areas between the teeth cannot be completely cleaned. Therefore, the oral cavity should be flossed once a day to clean the area adjacent to the teeth.

The takeaway here is that caries can be prevented! You need to insist on brushing your and your baby’s teeth clean every day, and do not forget to floss. In addition, eat regularly and reduce the number of times you eat, reduce sugar intake, and have a regular oral examination and cleaning. You can also ask your dentist about professional caries prevention measures!
